Evening Candlelit Green Man Tour and Talk: with author Richard Hayman
Join us for a very special evening featuring a Green Man-themed candlelit talk and tour in the Chapel.
Green Man expert Richard Hayman will give an illustrated talk tracing the history of the green man in medieval and later churches, showing how they first appeared in manuscript illuminations before they emerged in architectural ornament in the twelfth century. Examples from across the country will show how the green man’s appearance, and perhaps the meaning, shifted over time and became the popular nature symbol of today.
The talk will be followed by a tour of the Chapel with one of the Rosslyn Chapel tour guides. Rosslyn Chapel is unique in having over 100 green men stone carvings inside and outside the building.
Finish off in the Visitor Centre with a complimentary glass of wine.
