Chapel Success at Scottish Thistle Awards

Best Heritage Tourism Experience RW

November 15, 2019

Rosslyn Chapel won the category ‘Best Heritage Tourism Experience’ at the Lothian and Borders Regional Final of the prestigious Scottish Thistle Awards, held in Edinburgh last night (14 November). The other finalists were Arniston House, in Gorebridge, and Johnstons of Elgin’s centre in Hawick and the award was sponsored by Historic Environment Scotland.

The Chapel now goes on to the national final, which will be held in March 2020, and competes with other regional winners at that time.

Ian Gardner, Director of Rosslyn Chapel Trust said: ‘It’s fantastic news that Rosslyn Chapel has won the ‘Best Heritage Tourism Experience’ award at the regional finals of the Scottish Thistle Awards. It recognises  the dedication and commitment of our whole team, who work hard to ensure that Rosslyn Chapel provides one of the best visitor experiences in Scotland.’

The Chapel’s entry, which was judged by an industry panel, highlighted improvements made to the visitor experience in the past year, including more information for non-English speaking visitors, improved accessibility and diversified shop products.
