The angel playing bagpipes is one of a group of angels carved at the top of the Mason’s Pillar.
Similar musical angels can be found at the tops of the three pillars in the Lady Chapel, singing and playing instruments in celebration of Christ’s birth. They all face the carving of the Nativity with the star on its lower surface.
