The Star of Bethlehem and the Nativity
One of the principal carvings in the Lady Chapel shows the star of Bethlehem and figures associated with the story of the birth of Christ.

The ceiling in the Lady Chapel is divided into vaulted compartments, with ribs from all four corners of a compartment rising to meet at a central point. In one, hanging from the central point is a carving depicting the nativity.
An eight-pointed star is on its lower surface, representing the star of Bethlehem, and around it are Mary and child, the manger, the wise men and shepherds.
