Antique guidebooks acquired

Rosslyn Chapel Guide Maureen Moffat with an antique guidebook for the Chapel, dated 1827. The guidebook, which has just been acquired by Rosslyn Chapel Trust, was published in Edinburgh by Oliver & Boyd and J & I Johnstone and is priced 4s 6d. It was purchased in a bookshop in Germany in 1990 and recently donated, making it the earliest guidebook to the Chapel in the Trust’s care. It was purchased in a bookshop in Germany in 1990 and recently donated, making it the earliest guidebook to the Chapel in the Trust’s care. This is the second antique guidebook to be acquired by the Trust in recent weeks. Another, dated 1838, which was bought in a second-hand bookshop in Canada, was recently donated. It will undergo conservation treatment thanks to funding from the Gordon Fraser Charitable Trust.
