A Spring Celebration with Piotr Rojek and Magdalena Durant: Organ and Voice Recital

An evening of exultant music celebrating the coming of Spring, with a choice of music inspired by the setting of Rosslyn Chapel and its abundance of carvings representing nature and life. With a focus on Mary, mother of Jesus, as a symbol of strength, humility and life itself.

This is the second of four concerts in the 2022 Rosslyn Chapel Organ Recital Series, supported by Scotland’s Churches Trust.

Piotr Rojek is a professor at The Karol LipiƄski Academy of Music in WrocƂaw, where he directs the Cathedral Organ, Harpsichord and Early Music program and he teaches at the National School of Music in Poland. Piotr Rojek is a scholar of the Ministry of Culture and the Arts, Internationale Altenberger Orgelakademie in Germany and is a winner of multiple organ and composer competitions.

Magdalena Durant was born in WrocƂaw, Poland and studied at the Music Conservatory Karol LipiƄski in WrocƂaw, Poland, as well as at the renowned Cologne State Higher School of Music in Germany.  Magdalena Durant has extensive stage experience of a broad and demanding operatic repertoire. She performs throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America with the Berliner Kammeroper, Philharmonie SĂŒdwestfalen, St. Andrews Orchestra, New Edinburgh Orchestra as well as with ensembles led by renowned organist John Kitchen in Edinburgh.  As a special highlight, she was featured in the 2008 ARD/WDR television documentary Ein Klavier geht.  Currently, Magdalena Durant resides in Edinburgh, Scotland where she is a vocal tutor for the University of Edinburgh.

Proceeds from the concert will be donated to support the music programme at Roslin Primary School.
