Scottish Clarinet Choir
The Scottish Clarinet Choir is Scotland’s clarinet orchestra. Players from the length and breadth of the country play all shapes and sizes of clarinets from the rich and deep contra bass all the way up to brilliant E flat and A piccolo clarinets.
Founded a few years ago, just pre pandemic, the group meets once a month under the leadership of John Cushing, former principal clarinet of the RSNO, and includes players from the young to the slightly older, lawyers and doctors to students and retired professional players. We play music, original and arrangements, from a wide range of styles and have already premiered works specially written for the group.
Music for the Rosslyn Chapel performance will include two Mozart operatic overtures arranged for clarinet choir, some original 20th century choir compositions, and other folk, orchestral and piano music rewritten for clarinets.
